As I sit here thinking of what one road safety crash I have seen and would like
to write about, and of course you would think I would have no problem
considering my son was killed by a reckless negligent speeding driver. My
thoughts go to the facts that every day 100 people are being killed on our
roads, thousands a year and millions seriously hurt. How can I just pick one
story to tell.
The other day I was sitting in traffic for an hour and a
half because there of course was a crash. Three vehicles one turned over because
the one driver was too inpatient and ran the red light, that caused an on coming
driver to hit the driver running the red light in turn he hit a suv which in
turn rolled over. So here we have one stupid driver who thinks they are above
the rules of the road and changes the lives of others because of their
impatience? Their holy then thou attitude? The fact they don't have to follow
the rules? I don't know and don't understand why this person would make a move
that killed one and injured several others? This crash is still under
investigation Puzzling.
Then last week in front of my daughters work a
pedestrian was crossing the road. A SUV plowed into the pedestrian killing this
young woman of 24. From what the witnesses have said her jaw was severed as
well as her arm! This woman that was driving this vehicle has yet been charged.
I could go on the list is endless of the crashes that I have seen, heard and
been a part of. My 14 year old son was killed outside my house by a reckless
negligent speeding driver. Some have said to me speed doesn't kill that their
stupidity does? Well isn't speeding stupid? Yet more then that think about the
facts your speeding down the road, you make the wrong jolt and hit a curb the
car goes out of control and your vehicle is now wrapped around a tree. Look at
the same scenario at a slower speed, your vehicle goes out of control but you
are NOW able to control your vehicle when it hits into the curb, your life is
saved as well as others! I could put a million different scenarios here and the
facts are speeding kills.
People need to start understanding that rules of
the road are not just to make your life miserable they are their to keep you
safe and most important others.
My 14 year old son Tyler was riding his
bike, the guy that hit him didn't even slow down, he hit my son going 58 mph in
a 30 mph zone. My son was in his view no obstructions, a bright sunny day. He
decided that he was bigger and faster and threw my son to his death where he
laid with part of his brains exposed! This image will never ever leave my mind,
seeing my son laying there not moving, the driver in the road glaring at me
believing he did no wrong? Don't know what was going on in that head, The kicker
is you would of thought this person would of learned a dear lesson and start
driving responsible, not so, this driver has had three more speeding tickets
since June 16 2003. What I would like to understand is why they keep giving back
this guy a license? Not saying that would stop him from getting behind the wheel
of a vehicle but it would certainly mean if he killed someone else he would go
to jail! The judicial system is VERY WRONG! There is no justice for the victim,
only the guilty.
We need to stand up, we need to stop letting this happen to
our kids and loved ones. I look at parents that have gone through this hell, and
do nothing, I look at the outside world people that think it can't happen to
them. It can, just give it time! We need to start yelling let's stop this
killer, instead of them putting in the seat belts and other safety measures that
apparently are not working, because there would not be 41 thousand people dying
a year!
